Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Schlam completed her undergraduate studies in science and art and then chose to pursue dentistry as it turned out to be the perfect combination of both.

Prosthodontics, the specialty involved with replacing missing parts of the oral cavity, proved to be the pinnacle of artistic rehabilitation in dentistry therefore Dr. Schlam completed three additional years of training to become a specialist after dental school.  During her residency she completed research and also gained extensive experience in both the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants. 

Professionally Dr. Schlam is passionate about continuing to understand the physical and emotional impact of prosthodontic therapy to help patients through challenging dental needs. 

 

During her training, Dr. Schlam spent time volunteering, completing a dental mission trip, and she continues to enjoy giving back through dentistry. After completing her residency she decided to join her husband as an active duty Army officer providing dental rehabilitations to many deserving soldiers of the Armed forces. Her family requested to be stationed in the Pacific Northwest and she has been practicing prosthodontics in the Seattle area ever since. Dr. Schlam was drawn to settle in Bend for its beautiful sunshine days, various mountain activities, and most importantly its special community that she looks forward to being a part of.

 

Dr. Schlam spends a great amount of time continuing her education by attending as well as leading dental educational events. She travels nationally and internationally to lecture to her peers and finds great joy by collaborating with dental and laboratory colleagues.

 

Outside of work, Dr. Schlam spends most of her time exploring the outdoors and enjoys sharing her love for nature with her husband and two young children. She maintains her artistic side outside of dentistry by doing abstract painting and sculptural design.

 

Dr. Schlam is eager to establish her practice’s reputation of clinical excellence and patient-focused care.
