Removable implant prosthetics come in all shapes and sizes. It is important for Dr. Schlam to evaluate your remaining gums and bone structure in order for her to recommend the best treatment solution. Each type of prosthetic functions based on different mechanical principles and has unique retention mechanisms. We want to ensure we are helping you select the prosthetic that will hold the tightest for your desired eating comfort but also be loose enough for your to easily remove to clean.

Prosthetic tooth replacement is a very personal choice and as a prosthetic specialty clinic we will provide you with all of your options, clearly describe the procedures involved, and help you maintain them for years to come.

After your delivery of your prosthesis it is important that you followup with Bend Prosthodontics annually so that Dr. Schlam can check the health of your mouth, and our in house laboratory can check the integrity and precision of your prosthetic parts. We also like to catch up with you and hear about how you and your family is doing- after all, we become close like family at Bend Prosthodontics!

Frequently Asked Questions

When is a bridge better than a dental implant?

What if I need to crown or veneer all of my teeth?

Does my prosthetic dental treatment last forever?

What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

Sometimes an area of a missing tooth is too large to try and reconstruct surgically, for this reason a bridge may be a more predictable and esthetic solution.

A crown usually covers the entire visible portion of your tooth while a  veneer may cover just the front or several parts of the tooth. Ideally the final restoration is decided at the time of treatment as Dr. Schlam will choose the least invasive coverage needed for your tooth.

If most or all of your teeth need to be treated to restore your mouth to health some additional measurements and trial crowns are used to ensure your entire dental system is rebuilt in a predictable manner.

Although our dental prosthetics are the best that dentistry has to offer, everything in our mouths and bodies wear over time and therefore may need to be replaced. Dr. Schlam an help estimate long term prognosis for your care with you before deciding on a treatment option.
